Many people think of their organization as an inanimate entity— brick and mortar, policies and procedures, a logo and the “powers that be”.
But when you’re the person at the top charged with ensuring the organization fulfills its vision; ideally as cohesively and effectively as possible, then you know that organizations are a far cry from lifeless!
Afterall, organizations are imagined, created, led, managed and operated by people.
People with different viewpoints, different values, different identities and varying personalities all converging under one brand to make the game plan you’ve established happen.
When it works well, it’s magical!
When it doesn’t, well that’s when you call us (ideally sooner rather than later!). Why? Because like it or not, it’s true what they say.
Culture eats strategy
for breakfast
Believe it or not, one of the biggest challenges for leaders when people problems arise in their organization is the very expertise that contributed to their success.
We’ve been conditioned to believe that the skills needed to competently dim the subtle nuances of a rising people challenge are “soft” and that an expertly crafted strategy, rich with industry benchmarks and logic will more effectively resolve such matters.
Unfortunately, there is often very little logic involved in the human element.
(Shocking, we know!)
Elements of power, promotion and politics deeply impede technical strategy’s effectiveness when the stakes are really high.
Throwing logic and technical expertise at human matters only exacerbates; allowing issues to spread and ultimately seed the invisible but ever powerful elements of organizational culture.
Without a solid understanding and hard fought expertise in navigating the human element, our most professional and technically astute selves are simply no match for the damage that can be caused over time when human matters in organizations are placated, poorly managed or left to self-resolve.
The effects can be felt long after an individual leader or employee is gone and isn’t corrected by espoused values on the wall or an annual bonding event.
Humans are our specialty
MPQI is uniquely qualified to help you diagnose and treat these types of organizational problems. Our Make Shift Happen™ Framework is rooted in the tenants of social work, psychology, coaching, change management and emotional intelligence.
Of course one workshop, one team building exercise won’t create the Shift you need. That’s where our signature programs and processes come in to get to the root of what’s causing tension.
